Third surgery… a few days to go!

On Monday, 4th of September, I will have my third – and hopefully last – lipedema surgery.

In fact, I am less nervous than I was for the two precedent surgeries: I know what’s going to happen and I trust my doctor.

On the other hand, I feel wretched because I know exactly what’s going to happen. These surgeries, which consists of specialized liposuctions, should not be taken lightly; they come with a lot of physical pain and psychological stress. I still struggle with the last remaining physical complaints resulting from my last surgery in December 2016, which is now 9 months ago. And now, it’s gonna start all over again.

Fortunately, the pain caused by the lipedema itself is almost completely gone. I still have hope I’m going to be able to lead a normal life after the last healing process which may take up to one year, at least for the next 10 years. Lipedema is a chronical disease which cannot be healed. But the surgeries are the only way to stop the progression of the disease and to increase the quality of life in a considerable way.

Keep your fingers crossed for me on Monday, my surgery is scheduled from 12 PM to 3 PM. I’ll keep you updated!
